Portrait Finishes

Experience the difference at Carr Portrait Art.

Most studios offer a print finish that is the same as their "proofs."  Whatever name they use for it - "Basic," "Standard" - it generally means these prints receive no retouch or other finishing services.  These are their lowest price prints, and the prices usually quoted when you ask "how much." This is to get you in the door. In order to get any retouch or a higher quality finish on your portraits, you must pay a higher price.

We have decided to do things differently from most photography studios. We do not play games with prices. We would like to meet with you in person to discuss your photography needs - no cost or obligation, let's just chat. You can look at samples of our work, visit about what's important to you, and whether or not we can meet your needs. When you put it all in context and compare what we offer to the same finishes and services that other studios charge extra for (including creation fees, customer service, print finishing services, combining images in your portrait collections), you'll find you will usually save money with us.

All prints from Carr Portrait Art receive retouching of blemishes, softening of facial lines, and additional finishing art as needed for the most artistic expression.

For wall portraits (starting with 14" prints) a canvas finish is recommended.  After all finishing artwork is completed, your portrait is adhered to a fine artist's canvas and mounted on heavy artboard for an heirloom quality portrait. They are then sealed with a photographic lacquer coating, and framed. All wall portraits (starting with 14"), canvas or paper finish, come framed.

Removal of braces, swapping heads or facial expressions, removing someone from, or adding someone to, a group portrait can also be done.  An additional art fee is required for these services.

We also offer a plain photographic paper finish. Paper finish portraits receive all the artwork of a comparable Canvas portrait. There's nothing really wrong with a Paper finish, Canvas just has a more elegant, heirloom, and artistic look and feel.

Commercial Sessions

Basic day rate for commercial photography (product, corporate office, executive portraits, etc) is $60/hour. Specific jobs may vary and a bid may be submitted. Talk to us about your needs.

We also offer sessions for business people needing "head shots" for use in business cards or other advertising.
